State Competition 2009

Water and our changing climate 

There have been many highly creative and informative community service announcements that were entered as part of the Water and our changing climate competition.

Students were asked to produce a community service announcement that provides a clear message for the intended audience about water as a natural resource, and the impact of our changing climate in their catchment.   

State Winners 

Overall State Winner

Vasse Primary School; Abigail Gifford, Beth Hoppe and Hannah Meagher. Yr 6.

Two excellent A3 posters encouraging:

(i) personal action to reduce our carbon footprint; and

(ii) volunteering to create a healthy catchment.

Bakers Hill Primary School; Kindergarten Class

A videoed performance by the Kindy Croakers about a drying climate and the loss of frog habitat and the frogs.

Winner

St Hilda's Anglican School for Girls: Alisa Dawson and Georgina McCabe, Year 5.

Our river our future: a video clip on what climate change and reduced rainfall will mean to the Swan River and how we must work together to conserve our waterways.

Runner Up

St Hilda’s Anglican School for Girls; Isabel Kasten, Victoria Allen and Isabel Rowley, Year 5.

A globster presentation entitled: Save it - Don’t waste it.

Secondary

There was no state award made at the secondary level due to the low number of entries received.
