The Ribbons of Blue Swan-Canning Regional Coordinator is employed by
the Swan River Trust and works with schools in the Lower Swan and
Canning RIver catchments (see above). Schools in the Swan Coastal
catchment (northern suburbs) who require assistance should contact the
State Coordinator

The Region
The Swan Natural Resource Management region covers over 770,000 hectares of land of which the Perth Metropolitan Area covers 53 per cent. The Swan Canning Catchment is made up of the Swan and Canning rivers, catchments and estuaries, including the Ellen Brook and Brockman River to the north, Wooroloo Brook and the Helena River to the east and Southern River and Wungong Brook to the south. The Perth Metropolitan Area dominates the region's social and economic life.

Water fleas (Cladocera) are tiny crustaceans, some species have large antennae which assist in swimming. Sometimes river pools in the south west have large populations of the giant cladoceran Daphnia carinata.
