The Statewide Photographic Competition has now been completed with the judges having the difficult task of choosing winners from more than 200 entries.
The purpose of the competition was to allow people to show how waterways are important to them. The number of very interesting shots and captions shows that entrants place a high value on their local river, wetland, creek or coast.
Many of the shots were of waterways in the landscape, there were some stunning wildlife shots and some very inventive close-ups. One was even taken of an underground stream. Winning entries will be posted on the web site when we have received digital images.

Long-necked Turtles are common in the south-west. They breathe air and females leave the water in spring and summer to lay their eggs on land. They eat crayfish, shrimps, insects, molluscs and fish.
